Diplomacy

Diplomacy is the conduct of government officials of negotiations and other relations between nations and it is the skill in managing negotiations or handling people.
  • President Abraham Lincoln and President Andrew Jackson favored a tolerant approach in the South.  They helped with the diplomacy between southern state's opinions and those of the rest of the nation to grant black suffrage.
  • However, many Republicans also were in favor of black suffrage.  Many citizens voiced that if Republicans continued to promote black suffrage, that they would vote in favor of the Republican party when they were able to.  This agreement is an example of diplomacy.
  • The Civil Rights Movement, which is a part of the black suffrage, directly relates to diplomacy because it deals with having the Blacks and Whites get along.
